Scenic Art and Painting
These are collections of artwork created for various projects in the theatre and other events. These samples show a range of textures and techniques used by Mikayla Blanchard in her work from imitation stonework to landscapes. Blanchard has also volunteered with local schools on a variety of projects to teach students about scenic art while assisting with their productions.
Scenic Painting With High School Students
Scenic painting for a production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at Nipomo High School in February of 2020. Blanchard’s contribution to this project included painting the palace structure in a faux marble finish, the painted carpeting on the stairs, and the faux stained-glass windows.
Scenic Painting with Middle School Students
A workshop to teach Drama Students at Mesa Middle School about painting techniques and applying those techniques to paint their set for a production of Cinderella in 2014. She taught them techniques that included texture, lowlight and highlight, as well as demonstrated techniques for woodgrain and clouds.
